There are many amazing things that I miss about Thailand, but what I miss most is the comfort of Thai massage. Believe it or not, while I was in Thailand a few times, I got a massage every single day. If you’re like me at all, then you’ll understand for sure.
Two weeks in Thailand were enough to get me hooked. After coming back to Delhi, I decided I’d try out my mother’s maalish-wali but sadly it was nowhere close to even a few minutes of the awesomeness of Thai massage.
What exactly is Thai Massage
Before we go further, let me explain what’s so amazing about Thai massage. Traditional Thai massage is more like an ancient healing treatment that combines the best of acupressure, Ayurvedic principles from India (which our Indian masseurs seem to have forgotten) and also includes yoga postures. No, you don’t have to do yoga but the masseur is trained to twist and turn your body into different poses.
Hunt for Thai Massage in Delhi
Did I mention how much I missed Thai massage when I was in India? Well, so the hunt continued unsuccessfully and I tried a few different so called Thai Spas in Delhi and Gurgaon and I was ready to give up. Thankfully, my friend recommended I check out Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa in Vasant Kunj (South Delhi). While booking my appointment, I spoke to a very knowledgeable lady – Vibha Rastogi and I had a feeling this spa would be different.

Reception – Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa, Delhi
I arrived at Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa with a mood to get pampered. I filled up the forms and chatted with the lady at reception and she recommended I book Sawadhee Signature Massage that’s for 90 minutes. After selection, they escorted me to my spa room with soft lighting and aroma of therapeutic balms.

My masseur checked my pressure tolerance and sensitivity before she started the healing treatment. She found points which I didn’t even know were hurting and she massaged them. The smell of herbal balms, oils and her healing touch literally transported me to Thailand. Something new here was that she placed heated pouches on my tense muscles and I instantly felt energized.
After my massage, I opted for an exfoliating chocolate body scrub to remove my dead cells. The scrub treatment was also like a mini massage and it felt really good. The scrub treatment lasted 45 minutes, after which I went for a long warm shower in my massage suite. Before you ask – yes my skin was glowing because of that chocolate scrub.
As I sipped my delicious cup of herbal tea after my spa treatment, I couldn’t help but smile because I felt very relaxed. Thank God I found Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa for my much-needed dose of pampering while I’m in Delhi.
